Mammography, a diagnostic test that screens for breast cancer, is available at the Desert West Arrowhead office. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends screening every 1-2 years for women ages 40-74; those with a personal or family history of breast cancer, dense breasts, or other risk factors may need to schedule more frequently.
Schedule Your Mammogram at Our Arrowhead Office
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday — 7:20 am – 4:00 pm
Wednesday — 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Friday — 8:20 am – 11:40 am
What to Expect
A low-dose x-ray that takes an image of the inside of the breast, the exam takes about 20 minutes. It is very important for the early detection of breast cancer because it can find tumors and irregularities in the breast tissue while they are still too small to be felt by you or your provider.
When Should You Schedule a Mammogram
Mammograms should be scheduled at least seven days after your last period started and two weeks before your next period is expected. On the day of your appointment, do not use deodorant, perfume, or powder.
