Options include synthetic and bioidentical hormone treatments. Available at any pharmacy with a prescription, synthetic hormones can be taken orally or topically. Bioidentical hormone replacement uses hormones that are chemically identical to human hormones. These are available with a prescription at special compounding pharmacies.
Desert West Obstetrics & Gynecology also provides bioidentical hormone injections through pellet therapy. Following lab work to test your hormone levels, pellets derived from soybean and Mexican yam plant sterols are painlessly inserted under the skin of the hip using a local anesthetic. A new pellet is reinserted approximately every four months. Pellet therapy addresses symptoms without the hassle of daily pills.
